We started because students deserved better than what the industry was offering.

Sanz International was founded in Bangalore in 2012 by Safina Naaz and Nadeem Ulla Khan. The idea was straightforward — students deserved guidance built on their actual profile, their real goals and honest information. Not on agent commissions. Not on whoever pays the best referral fee.

More than a decade later, that idea has not changed. Everything else has grown around it.

What started as a study abroad consultancy now covers career intelligence too — because over years of working with students, parents and professionals, one thing became very clear: education decisions and career decisions are almost never separate problems. Solve one without the other and you’ve only done half the job.

Madiha Afra

Counselling strategy, Operations & Partnerships

Madiha is one of the key driving forces behind Sanz International, overseeing counselling strategy, operations, partnerships, and the overall student experience across the organisation.

With a background in Psychology, Communication, and Literature, along with British Council certification in Counselling, she brings together empathy, structure, and practical decision-making in the way students are guided.

Over the years, she has worked with students and families through all kinds of situations—confused students unsure about their future, stressed parents trying to make the right decision, professionals reconsidering long-held career paths, and families navigating completely different expectations for their child’s future.

She approaches every conversation the same way: warm, honest, direct, and focused on helping people make decisions that genuinely fit their lives, not simply the decisions they expected to hear.

Alongside the wider Sanz International team, she continues to play a key role in shaping the culture, guidance standards, and student-first approach the organisation is known for.
