PTE Academic is a computer-based academic English language test aimed at non-native English speakers wanting to study abroad. It tests Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking. There is one multi-level test.
PTE is an English test accepted by universities globally. You can prove your English ability for university and college admissions or for visa application. The advantage with PTE is that the results are out in 5 days. It is a computer based test and the scoring is out of 90 for the Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking Sections.
Currently PTE Academic is widely accepted in New Zealand and Australia for study/work/immigration/PR. For the rest of the countries it depends. There is also PTE general. The Pearson Test of English General, formerly known as The London Test of English is intended to remunerate positive accomplishment in English language learning. The tests comprise of two sections: a written paper and an interview. But PTE General is not taken by many. Very rare cases test takers do take that. In India, PTE Academic is preferred and accepted and not PTE General.
