The post-study work visa of the UK for international students is valid for 2 years. There has been a demand to extend the period to 4 years. The visa is also known as the “visa route”.
It allows the students to search for employment in the country for a maximum of 2 years after completing their study program. After 2 years, the graduate has the option to apply for a visa for skilled workers if they have managed to find an employment opportunity for a job that matches the skill required for the visa.

International students who wish to work in Canada after their graduation have to apply under the Post-Graduation Work Permit Program (PGWPP) for a post-study work visa in Canada. Course length is more than 8 months but less than 2 years: International students who have completed a program that is more than 8 months but less than 2 years in the country are eligible to work for a period equal to the length of their program. Course length is 2 years or more: In case a student has completed a course that is more than 2 years in length, he/she is eligible to apply for a work permit of three years in Canada.
Ireland offers 12 months of stay back for all international students finishing a Bachelor’s degree in Ireland. Postgraduate students are allowed to stay for 24 months. New Zealand is quite welcoming towards international students. If a student is matriculate for a course with less than three months’ duration then a visitor’s visa will be appropriate but any course exceeding three months’ duration will require a student visa. To get a student visa, the student has to submit all necessary documents along with a police certificate showing you are of good character and that you have sufficient funds to live in New Zealand. In Germany, a student’s visa expires automatically after the completion of their studies/ program. So it is recommended to apply for a residence permit before your visa expires.
Germany allows international students to stay back for 18 months to find a job after they have graduated. If a student has gone back to their home country but wants to visit Germany again to find employment a work visa of 6 months is issued to them. Once an international student finds a job then he/she has to apply for a separate work and residence visa altogether. One can also apply for an EU Blue card which works in any other European country.
In France, international students who have applied for their studies/ course have to apply for either a Schengen Visa/ Short term visa, a Temporary long-stay visa, or a Long-stay visa according to the duration of their choice of course.
This Visa allows students to study in France with a prior agreement by the Government of French.
.After an international student has graduated, as per the immigration rules of the country, the student has to leave France. However, international students can apply for a residence permit in France if they have paid employment/ job . Those who have completed a degree at the master’s or a higher level in France can extend their stay for up to one to two years.
