Tips and strategies to improve IELTS

International English Language Testing System 

Let’s Prepare for IELTS :

• Plan your Trip :

        1.You will receive an email describing the location of the test center according to your ID 2 or 3 days before the test.

        2.Choose how to get to the test center and find out how long it takes. Register half an hour before the test starts.

        3.Be sure to bring your international passport.

• Take your Seat :

       1.When you come to the test room, you will see the place reserved for you.

       2.No electronic devices and food (except for water) are allowed at the workplace during the test.

       3.You will be allowed to use the washroom, but remember that the test time is limited.

The IELTS TEST -Total 3 hours

1.Listening -Listen to 4 recordings and answer the question.

      (40 questions -40 minutes.)

Tips for IELTS Listening 

Keywords -Underline them in the question to help you navigate and listen for an answer.

Time Management-Use the time given to prepare the questions. Always read through all questions before the recording starts.

2.Reading -Read the passages and answer the questions

      (40 questions -60 mins.)

Tips for IELTS Reading 

Spend no more than 1 minute answering each question .

3. Writing -Describe the graph (~ 20 min) and write an essay on the topic given(~40 min).

Tips for IELTS Writing 

Predict what the text is about.

Read quickie through(1-2 min) to get a general idea.

Read the questions and highlight key points.

4.Speaking– Speak to the examiner on general topics.

  (3 sections 11-14 mins)

Tips for IELTS Speaking

Give a full answer.

Speak clearly and don’t worry about your accent.

Keep a steady pace.

Practice speaking with a watch.

Stay on topic.
